INTRODUCTION OF THE YOUNG ENTERPRISE PROGRAM

Welcome to the Young Enterprise Program. This program was first introduced in Malaysia in 1990 and it is sponsored by the Malaysian - American Electronics Industries (MAEI) in collaboration with the Ministry of Education - MAEI is a sub-committee of the American - Malaysian Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM). Supporting sponsors are Johnson and Higgins Insurance and Public Bank Berhad.
The primary objective of this program is to provide participants with hands-on experience of managing a company. In other words, participants, otherwise known as 'achievers', learn the basic skill of the business industry, right from the registration and setting up of the company right to its liquidation. This gives its participants, mainly students aged 16-18, the golden opportunity to be exposed to the business filed prematurely. Besides offering a practical learning experience, this program also helps participants to discover their business abilities, develop leadership qualities and instil co-operation and teamwork.
It will be an invaluable experience for those participating in this Young Enterprise Program as they will discover that managing a company is not just a money making process. They will be made aware that many factors have to be taken in to consideration to ensure a successful company. The need for a solid foundation, a good management structure, precision planning and a challenging vision are among the numerous factors in acquiring a definite success. Satisfying the consumers' needs too plays an important role in the success of a company.
At a moment where, our country, Malaysia, is facing an economy crisis, this program will be beneficial in the betterment of that state. The cause of this program is totally in support of our Prime Ministers' Vision 2020.
